Tempus in Contemplation (Ting Ting Chen)

Inspired by Renaissance art, Tempus reimagines the Vanitas tradition, with Robert as a Deity of Time. The skull signifies mortality; the ladybug suggests life and time’s fragility. A feathered balance evokes Ma’at and asks whether time is weightless. Water falls from the quill, leaving the parchment blank and emphasizing impermanence. The window borrows its landscape from Ghirlandaio’s An Old Man and His Grandson, extending the meditation on time, memory, and disappearance.
