Silent Explosion Tile #15 (Xuemei Lu)

This body of work captures the unsettling silence before chaos—the stillness before a bomb, a scream, or extinction. Each tile reflects a silent explosion of emotion, shaped by chemical reactions and experimental materials. With support from Cora and Rick, I built a backyard Raku kiln to create these unique ceramic pieces—traces of beauty and despair that may vanish, like us.
