Golden Threads (Saskia Wassing)

Informed by my drawing explorations into softer tones, this windowsill still life grouping includes a mix of pieces that connect me to the people and places I cherish. Each piece contains threads of my story. As I work, new narratives are imagined and intertwined offering comfort and joyful reflection. Lustrous and metallic threads are embroidered onto an appliquéd silk ground using my basic domestic sewing machine as a drawing tool. I stitch freely over the surface. Framed, ready to hang.
