Learning how to clean and prepare a fresh catch is a rite of passage here, often passed down within families. This painting shows one part of that process, capturing the quiet, skillful labour that happens between sea and plate. It’s part of a larger body of work that explores traditional foodways and how identity is shaped through what we eat, how we prepare it, and what we choose to remember.
