Fennel (cells magnified x240) (Karen Taylor)

Fennel was one of the first plants I put under the microscope. I used a turquoise stain to help me see the cool hexagonal shaped cells. I grow fennel every year. I never get big fat bulbs, but I do get plenty of tasty fronds that I stir into all sorts of dishes.
