Fates (Brigitta Kocsis)

I think of myth not as a fixed European inheritance but as a mutable symbolic language whose critical function can be amplified. It is a collection of narratives that can be reworked, ‘queered’, and abstracted to intensify their power to critique and disrupt social hierarchies. In my paintings and drawings, I engage with figures from classical iconography such as Fates, Ariadne, Les Trois Grâces, Aphrodite, and Medusa.
