Algae I (Xuemei Lu)

Inspired by algae’s drifting nature, this work explores my identity as an Asian immigrant artist navigating between cultures. Using mixed media and traditional techniques, I reflect on transition, belonging, and adaptation. These sculptures embody in-betweenness—neither East nor West—expressing quiet resilience and the enduring value of every voice through art.
