A Swedish Garden in Mid-Summer (Harriet Liu)

I spent two weeks at Slipvillan Artist in Residence in Stockholm, Sweden. The studio sat inside a century old home surrounded by a lush, tranquil garden. During Midsummer, when sunlight finally broke through the clouds, an old tree casts a striking, shifting shadow across the house’s exterior wall. My paintings explore moments like this—where light and shadow interplay between natural and built environments.
